Creating and editing lists

How do I create a shopping list?

  1. On the Lists screen, tap +.
  2. Enter a list name, such as “Weekly groceries.” You can also choose an icon and color.
  3. Tap Create, then open the list to add items.

How do I change a list or an item?

Open a list’s three-dot menu ⋮ and choose Edit list to change its details. Save your changes when you’re done.

Inside a list, use Add item to add what you need. Tap an existing item to open its editing tools, then change its quantity, category, or other details. Use the item’s checkbox to mark it as picked up, or uncheck it if you still need it.

Is every list shared automatically?

No. Creating a regular list does not invite anyone. You choose which lists to share. Changes made inside a shared list are visible to its participants, so check which list you’re editing.

Sharing with other people

How do I invite someone to my list?

  1. Open your list’s ⋮ menu and tap Share list.
  2. Sign in if prompted, then confirm that you want to share the list.
  3. Wait for Your list is ready to share.
  4. Tap Share invite link to send it through a messaging app, or Copy to paste it into a message.

The person you invite opens the link and joins with their own MariaList account. You don’t need to share your password.

Do I need an account and internet access?

Yes. Sharing and joining require sign-in and an internet connection. Shared lists are stored online so participants can update them together. If preparing a shared list fails, check your connection and try again; the app’s error message confirms that your local list is safe.

Why am I seeing an upgrade screen?

The free plan has shared-list limits. If you reach a limit, the app offers Premium for more sharing. Premium includes unlimited shared lists you create and join. Check the purchase screen for the current price and billing terms.

Who can use the invitation?

An active invitation can be forwarded. Send it only to people you want in the list, and don’t post it publicly. Participants can see the shared contents and update items according to their role.

Joining through a link

How do I join a shopping list?

  1. Install MariaList for Android if you haven’t already, then open the invitation link you received.
  2. Sign in if prompted. If you just installed the app or the invitation does not reappear after sign-in, open the original link again.
  3. When you see Invitation found, tap Join shared list.
  4. After joining, tap Open shared list. You can also find it on your Lists screen.

Why does the link say it’s unavailable?

The invitation may be inactive, incorrect, or connected to a list that is no longer shared. Ask the owner to check sharing and send a working invitation. If you see Connection problem, connect to the internet and retry.

What can I do after joining?

As an editor, you can add, edit, check, reorder, and remove items. Those changes affect the shared list for everyone. The owner manages invitations, members, and whether the list stays shared.

Managing shared lists

Where do I manage sharing and members?

If you own the list, open its ⋮ menu and select Manage sharing. You can copy or send the invitation again, view members, and stop sharing. Member options are available from each member’s menu; only the owner can remove a member.

How do I leave a list someone else owns?

Open the joined list’s Shared list info, choose Leave shared list, and confirm. The list disappears from your Lists screen, while the owner and other members keep access. Leaving does not erase the items or changes you previously contributed.

What happens when I stop sharing my own list?

In Manage sharing, choose Stop sharing and confirm. Other participants lose access, and the list stays on your device. Its invitation becomes inactive. Stopping sharing is separate from requesting deletion of your account and associated data.

Why aren’t everyone’s changes showing?

Check that everyone is online, signed in, and looking at the same shared list. Give changes a moment to arrive, then reopen the list. Follow any sign-in or connection message shown in the app. Google Drive backup is separate from shared-list updates.

If the problem continues, contact support with your app version and whether you are the owner or a member. Avoid clearing app data or reinstalling as a first troubleshooting step, since local data could be lost.
